The Eilean Bàn Trust is in a desperate race against time to raise £25,000 to repair the foundations of the walkway to the 152-year-old lighthouse under the Skye Bridge. This walkway is one of only two original lighthouse walkways left in Scotland.
Without these repairs, access for everyone will be lost to the historic lighthouse, built by Thomas Stevenson in 1857.

Specialist engineers have advised the Trust that they have until October 2010 to begin the work as the foundations, which are submerged by the tide, are subject to erosion.
Trustee Jonathan Supper said: "The Lottery funding route is not open to us until the government issue us with a new lease in five years time. We are exploring other funding options, but renovations of the type required are not a qualifying cause in many cases."
The Trustees would like to hear from any individuals or companies who could possibly help with a financial donation, however large or small, towards the preservation of this iconic landmark. Any donation would attract gift aid as the Eilean Bàn Trust is a registered charity.
The Trust would also very much appreciate hearing from anyone who might be prepared to join the fundraising steering group and help manage the financial campaign.
If you are able to help financially or with your time, please leave details with our treasurer Margaret Scott on 01599 534539, or email: enquiries (AT) eileanban (DOT) org (please put 'Appeal' at the start of the subject line), or write to:

Thank you for your time.
