Unfortunately however, our appeal is not yet over, as now we need to raise funds for the next phase of work - refurbishing the Victorian Wrought-Iron-Work of the walkway itself. This work will involve replacing some of the walkway iron-work, and then cleaning and re-painting the remainder. Unfortunately, due to the regulations associated with carrying out such work, the Trust are in need of a six figure sum to complete the task. According to Professor Paxton of Herriot-Watt University, this is apparently the longest remaining example of this kind of structure still in regular use in the UK. Trustee Jonathan Supper: The Trustees would like to hear from any individuals or companies who could possibly help with a financial donation, however large or small, towards the preservation of this iconic landmark. Any donation would attract gift aid as the Eilean Bàn Trust is a registered charity. The Trust would also very much appreciate hearing from anyone who might be prepared to join the fundraising steering group and help manage the financial campaign. If you are able to help financially or with your time, please leave details with our treasurer Margaret Scott on 01599 534539, or email (see our contact page - please put 'Appeal' at the start of the subject line), or write to: Thank you for your time. |
